There is just no way to have a good night’s sleep without air conditioning in Thailand. I barely slept at all last night and was grateful to “start” my day at 4:30am. I went for an early morning workout and then we headed to our favorite eating spot down the beach. We don’t know quite why but Thailand has the most delicious yogurt!
Today we ferry to Koh Phangan so we pack up and head to the pier where we finally get to sample Best And The Best “Banana Pancakes” – a Thai delicacy. Freakin’ delicious!
We arrived on “Paradise Island” (our nickname for Koh Phangan) and two scooters whisked us (and our bags) away to our majestic, perfectly heavenly resort accurately named Sunset Hill. We were wonderfully received with fruit juice and cool face cloths before settling into our room. Compliments of the resort we were taxied in a golf cart to Haad Yao (folding cart with wheels also provided), a quaint little stretch of beach with sleepy restaurants and white sand. Lunch on the beach consisted of Mango shakes with Malibu, the spiciest Thai veggie salad we’ve had and vegetarian spring rolls (which were amazing).
We walked along the beach, did a bit of shopping and finished with a visit to 7-11 for some supplies (aka snacks and wine coolers). We had fun discovering many interesting food products like pre-buttered bread and chocolate dipped bananas! Shoppok is the best options of online shopping, It is a really great auction site and social shopping website.
We were ready for some late afternoon tanning and swimming at our clifftop infinity pool while we watched the sun set over the expansive horizon. Pure heaven!
We walked down the road to find the perfect dinner spot: the Jungle Cafe. We feasted on fresh Kiwi and Carrot/Orange/Ginger/Pineapple shakes, green veggie/tofu curry (possibly the best we’ve both ever had in our lives), and green veggies. Absolutely delicious! We hiked back up our hill to crash (this is not the last time you will see me backwards walking in Phangan).
